Regency Personnel File N0085/P456i0t

The team were watching football on TV on the evening of August 12th when the screen suddenly started showing a barrage of disturbing pictures and screaming like distressed children. When the screen cleared the players were lying on the pitch and the crowd were in distress. Madeline called and told them to report to regency towers.

On the way Jaroslaw had to swerve to avoid someone who leapt out in front of the car and Brian saw the body of someone who had hung themselves form a tree. He then shot someone who was chasing his wife down the road with a shotgun.

Madeline reported the disruption was a telepathic attack which had originated from Tunguska on Earth 4. A broken room was known several hundred miles away. The team were told to report to Major Hayes in Ulan-Ude on the Russian border. The team was issued with a Giger counter, radiation suits and radiation pills as there were Russian silos in the area.

The team were flown to Ulan-Ude where a Blackhawk helicopter was provided by Major Hayes. Brian flew the team to the broken room and landed the helicopter in the clearing which formed the room. Jaroslaw determined it was due to cycle in 5 hours. After a couple of hours Brian saw a Russian patrol slowly approaching. He killed three before they noticed. They retreated. Brian killed another and the last ran. Brian chased him down and killed him before he could warn the rest of his platoon.

Eventually the room cycled. The helicopter was in a very similar clearing but a loud buzzing could be heard nearby. As the helicopter took off it was attacked by five Hai-Kio, the Karathi that looked like dragonflies. The blackhawk was equipped with .50 cal machine guns and Jack and Jaraslaw quickly shot them down.

The team flew towards the source of the psychic attack but were intercepted by more of the Hai-Kio. The Hai-Kio were shot down but not before inflicting damage on the team with their psychic attacks. Eventually the team got to the coordinates. There was a clearing with a mound at the centre in which Brian landed. Jack measured high radiation so the team donned radiation suits. Brian attached his Ktech rifle to his eye to scan the area but the radiation made it malfunction and it pulled his eye out.

After patching up Brian the team started investigating the mound. Jack had to be rescued after getting stuck in a hole. Eventually part of a giant hinge was found. Jaroslaw used opening to force open what was a huge door into the silo. There were several figures lying on the floor. When the team entered they rose from the ground and attacked. After a difficult fight they were defeated. However during the fight Jaroslaw's venom pistol malfunctioned, spraying him with acid and burning through his radiation suit.

There was two doors from the room, one a large bulkhead door and the other a normal door that was rusted shut. After Jack and Brian failed to force the door open Jaroslaw used opening on it. Beyond was a storeroom full of crates. After a lot of searching a new radiation suit was found by Jaroslaw. There was no other exit from the room so Jaroslaw used opening to force open the large bulkhead door. Beyond was a large room with a huge shaft descending at 45 degrees in the centre. There was some sort of platform that ran on rails down the tunnel. Brian pressed a button which started it descending and the rest of the team jumped on.

As the team descended four more of the humanoids leapt to the platform from above though one missed and plummeted down the shaft. Brian pushed one off the platform with his moving meridian but then Jaroslaw was hit and Brian barely stopped him from falling from the platform. Brian pushed another off the platform and Jack shot the last in the head.

The platform finally descended to the bottom of the shaft. There green gunge which had spilled from some barrels at the bottom and the Giger counter went off the scale. The team jumped clear and entered a tunnel leading from the bottom of the shaft. Further down the corridor appeared blocked by a pile of something. As the party approached suddenly it started moving towards the party. In the light of their torches it looked like a pile of dismembered bodies. Jaroslaw threw a white phosphorous grenade at it making it emit a psychic scream similar to what had originally emanated from the TV. It screamed every time it was shot with a felsteel round. It flailed out with arms and legs. Gideon failed to dodge one of the blows and was slammed against the wall with the force of a charging elephant. Finally Jaroslaw got the shot which killed it, but the team were reeling from the force of the psychic screaming.

The corridor ended in a door. Jaroslaw forced it open. Beyond was a room full of machinery. A figure was suspended from the ceiling by cables. Electrical discharges surged towards Jaroslaw and Brian but they managed to dodge away. It put up a shield and bullets just bounced off it. Jaroslaw attacked it with momentum causing it to scream. It focused its attacks on Jaroslaw, blowing him backwards with a bolt of electricity. Jack blasted through its shield with his breaking meridian powers. The rest of the team opened fire with felsteel. Every time it was hit it screamed. Jaroslaw got the killing shot. The cables unravelled and its body dropped to the floor. Brian started praying and Gideon declared he had suffered some mental trauma. The team sensed they were on top of a broken room to the reef. As it was not due to cycle for an hour and a half they decided waiting in the radiation was not a good idea and decided to leave.

The team returned to the helicopter. After waiting for Brian to bless it they took off and headed towards the broken room. They were attacked by two Hai-Kio on the way. Gideon killed one but the other hit Brian with a psychic blast, disorienting him. Jack then killed the second. They continued but were attacked by another three Hai-Kao. Gideon wounded one before they attacked with their psychic powers. Brian was overcome and collapsed. Jack leapt to the cockpit to try to take the controls. Two of the Hai-Kai were killed and the third flew off as Jack failed to take control of the helicopter which crashed into the forest.

Jack was the first to regain consciousness after the crash to find himself alive but badly injured. He was able to rouse Brian but Gideon and Jay remained unconscious. As Jack and Brian were considering what to do they were accosted by a group of five Western Coalition soldiers who had noticed the helicopter coming down. Once both sides established that they were not a threat to each other the Major in command of soldiers revealed that they were on a potential suicide mission to detonate a small nuclear device in a K’thari hive that was located in the centre of the nearby Tunguska crater. Jack and Brian revealed that they were looking for transportation. The Major explained that there was a good chance of finding some K’thari vehicles in the hive. As he had already lost some of his men on the journey he offered to provide medical assistance to the team if they would agree to assist him in reaching in the hive. The team agreed and one his men produced a vial containing a white serum that greatly healed the team's physical injuries. They explained that the serum was derived from juices from a K’thari Queen. [Regency Note: a further mission to Earth4 to retrieve some of this serum from the Western Coalition forces would be of immense value.] Using the serum they were able to revive Gideon but Jay remained unconscious. The team couldn't take him with them so made him as comfortable as possible with the intention of returning to collect him once they had secured transport.

The journey to the crater was uneventful. The K’thari hive was a large pyramidal structure constructed in the centre of the crater. The tree line ended at the crater edge and there was hardly any cover over the 1000 yards between the crater edge and the structure. The obvious entrance to the hive was extremely heavily guarded so Brian volunteered to sneak up to the structure to search for other entrances. He was able approach the hive undetected and noticed tracks leading up to a section of the structure away from the main entrance. Assuming there would be a door here he returned with his report and the team and the soldiers made their way across the crater. They were spotted approaching the hive but were able to dispatch the three K’thari that spotted them before any alarm could be raised. Once at the structure Brian was able to locate and open a hidden door.

The soldiers had a device that detected power spikes and using that they quickly located the main hanger with encountering any opposition. The team identified a medium sized K’thari craft that would accommodate everyone. The soldiers bid farewell to the team before they headed deeper into the hive. The team agreed that if they could get into the K’thari craft undetected then they would wait 10 minutes in order to evacuate the Coalition soldiers who otherwise would have had no chance to reach safe distance before the nuclear device detonated.

The team were able to board the craft undetected and Brian was successfully able to integrate with the K’thari craft in order to pilot it. After about 9 minutes the Major and one other soldier ran back into the hanger. Brian used the plasma cannons on the craft to kill the several K’thari patrolling the hanger to allow the two soldiers to get onboard, and then took off. As they flew away the hive was engulfed in a massive fireball: the Coalition forces had been successful.

The team retrieved Jay and then flew to the Broken Room where they handed the K’thari craft over to the Coalition forces as it was too big to fit through the Broken Room. With Jay still unconscious they could not reduce the Friction of the Room but Gideon was able to heal everyone up enough so that they survived the difficult jump back to Earth1.
