Regency Personnel File N0085/P455wa2

A regency agent, Dita Siden Stuka, in Austria reported scensing a large amount of momentum in Peter Splatz road, Vienna. A lorry was offloading crates labelled with by the well known auctioneer Ausperg. The team was briefed to investigate if any items they were selling are artefacts, and if so try to acquire them. A budget of 100,000 euros was authorised.

The team travelled to Vienna and after checking into their hotel scouted the auction house. Multiple sources of momentum were detected inside. The following evening they dressed up and went to attend the auction. There was a viewing and buffet before the actual auction. Three other nearsiders were detected, a Frenchman - Michele DeBousavin (distance 9), Russian - Nicoli Tychevski (distance 10)and Austrian Kalus Hunderprest (distance 11).

Jack asked another guest Lady Margaret Jameson about them. Michele had an interest in the occult. Nicoli had an antiquities business I Greece. Kalus was more of an unknown and had not been seen before.

Nicoli and Kalus were using momentum. The team started bidding on some of the lots.

Meanwhile Brian bought it for 50k Euro [Very reckless bidding from Brian as this exceeded the teams budget, also Jaroslaw reports he suspects it more likely to be a trapped malvolent than Exarch]

As Brian had overbid on the brass head it was necessary to authorise additional money to pay the auction house bill.

Hunderprest was followed by Jaroslaw and Gideon to an area known as Volstrass, a run down area of the city, where he got out and walked. He disappeared into an alleyway. Jaroslaw and Gideon had a bad feeling there and there was also an odd smell. Nicoli and Michele were followed to the hotel Viena.

The following morning the team returned to the hotel Viena. Jack asked the receptionist to call Michelle to discover his room was 4726. Gideon did the same later to determine Nicoli was in room 12993. They broke into Nicolis room. There was a iPad which Jaroslaw opened, determining the code was 1313. There was an icon with a red M (a known monarch symbol). There was also a calendar appointment for 9pm at the cemetery of the nameless.

The team then went back to the auction house to get the addresses the objects were being sent to. Jack distracted by using breaking on a crate while the rest of the team tried to read labels. Jaroslaw used his phone to photograph the labels. They learned Margaret's address was in Surrey, England. Darnel had an address in Sweden, Nicoli and Michelle's items were being delivered to their hotel this evening. Jack broke a second crate which turned out to be Hunderprest's. It was going to 324 Volstrass 1.

In the evening the team went to the cemetery. At 9pm a car and a van arrived. Nicoli and Michele got out of the car. Jaroslaw got a whiff of the same smell from the alleyway the previous evening. Jack heard them say something about a broken room then about 12 figures with a strange loping movement burst from nearby mausoleums and attacked them. The team watched while the monarch group were massacred. The crates and bodies were then dragged into the mausoleums. The group took the car and drove to Volstrass after the van, weapons and bits of body that had been left, were disposed of in the river.

They found the building in Volstrass but no number 1. There was an unmarked basement flat. Jaroslaw sensed a powerful nearsider nearby. Jaroslaw tried using his meridian to open the door but it briefly just appeared to look like it was a door painted on the wall. Jack used his breaking meridian which caused a crack in the door. Jaroslaw then used his opening meridian to open the crack. Gideon went inside and was attacked by a creature like those at the graveyard. As he retreated a second then third followed. Jack ran in circles with one chasing him while the rest of the team fought and defeated the other two. It then stopped chasing Jack and tried to flee back into the flat. Brian grappled it but it escaped his grasp.

Once all of the creatures had been killed in the street outside Hunderprest’s basement the team thought that they might have a temporary advantage. So despite Gideon being badly injured they decide to investigate the basement. They found an abandoned and decayed apartment with very little of interest inside. Brian located a hidden mechanism at the back of a closet which opened a concealed door. The door led to a small room with a ladder descending 60’ to another room. The limited view into the room from the top of the ladder did not offer any useful information. However, the sweet smell of decay that they had previously noticed around the creatures was extremely strong from below. The team now decided that withdrawing back to the hotel in order to collect their combat gear and to allow Gideon to heal was the best course of action.

The following morning, now suitably armed and with Gideon in better shape, the team left the hotel for the basement. On the way out Gideon was accosted by a man who asked if Gideon knew how to count to 13. Gideon ignored the man and joined Jack by the exit. The man then approached Brian and they proceeded to start a conversation. Jack grew impatient and after Brian did not respond to his calls, and he soon left the hotel to take a cab by himself to the basement. Brian discovered that the man was a Monarch operative. Apparently the correct answer to the question about counting to 13 was “no”. The Monarch operative was prepared to offer the team assistance in return for the team delivering the three items purchased during the auction by the two Monarch agents that were now in Hunderprest’s possession. Brian got the operative to agree to just returning two, with Regency keeping the third. However, on leaving the hotel and meeting the Monarch help it became clear to Brian that they were just mercenaries hired by Monarch. They were not told what they would be facing and did not have any fell steel ammunition, so were essentially cannon fodder. This bothered Brian’s conscience and he tried to dissuade the mercenaries from entering the basement, but without any success.

While this was happening, Jack had arrived at the basement and climbed down the ladder. He found a large room with two doors leading off, one left and the other right. He constructed a defensive position and awaited the arrival of his team mates. They arrived about 15 minutes later. Jack also tried to persuade the German mercenaries to leave. Once it was clear they were unprepared Jack was concerned that they would panic in the face of the creatures and prove a liability to the team. The mercenaries still refused to believe that they were in danger.

One of the mercenaries investigated the door on the left and found a small room with no other exits. The body of a woman lay on a table and some of her internal organs had been removed. Another mercenary investigated the door to the right and very quickly radio contact was lost. At this point the remaining two began to pay more attention to Brian and Jack, particularly as their comrade and clearly been dispatched without being able to fire a single shot. The mercenaries wisely abandoned their mission and fled the basement. The team now proceeded through the right door and were quickly attacked by three of the creatures they had encountered the previous day. Now properly armed with assault rifles and fell steel ammunition they had a much easier time dealing with the attack, although Gideon was heavily injured in the fight.

The team were now in a large cavern. The only exit was a tunnel that emerged 30’ up the wall. Brian climbed up to secure a rope for the others and was attacked whilst doing so by another creature. Gideon tried to assist Brian by shooting the creature but the shot was so difficult that he ended up shooting Brian in the back instead. Fortunately Brian’s armour absorbed most of the damage. After a brief tussle Brain managed to throw the creature from the tunnel into the cavern where Jack and Gideon easily dealt with it. Once the team were safely up the rope they proceeded along the tunnel to reach a T-junction. To the left they found it quickly branched out into a complex labyrinth of tunnels that were reluctant to explore for fear of getting lost. The tunnel to right induced terrible headaches on the team as they advanced along it, with the headaches quickly becoming unbearable. The team made a high speed dash to reach the end of the tunnel. It opened into an empty cavern with a small sandy beach leading into a large pool of water, the bottom of which they could not discern. The headaches left and a feeling of calm and relaxation was felt by the team as they entered the cavern. They ascertained that somewhere under the water lay a Broken Room to The Reef. The Room was keyed and cycled instantly once the key was invoked. Jack was reluctant to dive under the water without knowing what the key was, and Gideon was reluctant to enter the water after his drowning incident during a previous mission. Brian chose to enter the water. After wading a short distance into the pool a luminescent fish swam up to him, swam around him for a short while, and then swam down into the depths. Brian decided to swim down after the fish....

The rest of the team waited on the shore until they were attacked by more of the creatures. They killed two but more came and they jumped into the water to avoid them. Jaroslaw determined that Brians actions would trigger the broken room and swam down. After a short while the room cycled and they found themselves on a beach on the reef. Brian was standing with his eyes closed and appeared to be hallucinating. [Brian reported he had a vision about quitting working for his father and going to live in the woods where he went hunting a deer.] Gideon snapped him out of the hallucination using his healing meridian.

The team started following a path off the beach towards a village and started experiencing visions of what appeared to be Hunderprests past. Visions of his wedding, his wife in hospital then at his wifes funeral. Outside the village was a sign saying castaway. When Jack asked one of the villagers about Hunderprest he was told Hunderprest was the great healer and could be found in tranquil repose which was the other side of the forest. The team headed into the forest. Shortly after entering they saw a hideous figure approaching. Jaroslaw sensed he was a nearsider. When he charged the team gunned him down.

The team continued and came across a large gothic looking dome and other attached structures. It had tranquil repose written in gothic letters above the door. Jack sensed more than a dozen nearsiders, one powerful enough to be Hunderprest. The door was barred from inside but Jaroslaw opened it with his meridian. Inside was a fat man called Mr Joe Bell who said he was the undertaker. He said Hunderprest was in the catacombs and could not be disturbed. When asked about the figure in the forest he said 'has another one escaped then'. When he refused to take the team to Hunderprest Jack shot him.

The team found a stairway descending. Jack shot and killed a woman who threw Brian across the room to stop him going down to the catacombs. The team then descended the stairs where they found hunderprest and at least 12 of the creatures. The three objects stolen from Monarch and the one Hunderprest bought were on the top of pedestals. Jack and Jaroslaw shot Hundereprest in the head and he dropped. The leader of the creatures was also killed. Brian used his meridian to move three of the objects to him (ring, manuscript and skull) before the rest of the creatures charged. The team fled from the building with Jack throwing a grenade to slow them. The team made it out of the building with the creatures hot on their tails. Brian put a barrier across the door blocking some of them in. The others did not leave the building.

The team then returned to castaway. The nearest broken room was where they had appeared on the reef. Jaroslaw determined Jack was the key to opening the broken room so Jack swam down with the rest of the team following. He experienced a hallucination of his divergence event of a suicide bomber in Afghanistan and the room cycled leaving the team back on Earth 1 in the pool. The team then made their way back to America.
