Game RulesThe team were sent to Rebeccas house to investigate. In the table was a Halloween board game with a small card describing the rules. The red and blue pieces were in the start position. The game was sold by 'Triskaidekaphobia olde curiosity shoppe'. Gideon rolled the dice and the green piece moved itself to the start on the board. He moved it 7 places but when he let go it moved itself back to the start. The doorbell then rang. When Gideon answered the door Rebecca was outside. She seemed a bit confused but demanded the team left her house.

Jaroslaw used neersight and determined she was not human, more like a malvolent. As he did that Rebecca appeared to split in two and a scaly creature with pale eyes emerged and attacked him. He dodged the attack but the creature then used some momentum attack which left him reeling in pain. Brian attacked it with his felsteel knife but it dodged with ease. Gideon shot it with a felsteel round. Brian then turn his knife on himself and stabbed himself in the face. Jack shot it in the head with a felsteel round and it collapsed to the floor then dissolved into smoke and turned to ash. The yellow piece then moved itself to the start position.

Brian packed the game away into its box but when he picked up the dice the game flew out of the box on its own and set itself up on the table. Brian felt compelled to roll the dice. It landed on 13 and the yellow piece moved 3 places across the board. Jack left and the dice moved towards Gideon who rolled it. It landed on 11 and the green piece moved 3 places across the board. Jaroslaw followed Jack. Brian also followed but Gideon stayed inside playing the game and winning a 'trick'. When Gideon did not leave Brian went back inside. He saw Gideon get sucked into the game board.

The test of the team then went to investigate the game shop. There was a single powerful neersider in the shop which Jack identified as being the owner. A short discussion with him was not very enlightening but he was not human and found the term malvolent distasteful. He said the only way to escape the game is to win the game. He then demanded the team leave. Brian wanted to return to the house and play the game but Jack and Jaroslaw refused. Brian then got a phone call asking him to return to the shop alone. There he was offered to return 1 person from the game for free, or both for a price. After some thought Brian asked for just Gideon to be released.

When Gideon disappeared into the game he found himself to be tiny and under glass dome on a kitchen table. Rebecca was under another jar. He overbalanced the jars to get off table though Rebecca was knocked unconscious by the drop to the floor. A cat came into the kitchen and Gideon barely had time to pick Rebecca up before being chased into a mouse hole. The cat had a trick on a chain round its neck. While hiding he found a bottle in his pocket labelled 'drink me', though he did not. [It seems likely the bottle was a result of Brians actions] When the cat was asleep Gideon shot the chain holding the 'trick' from the cat. When he picked it up he found himself back in Rebeccas house.

The team reported back to regency. It was decided that to rescue Rebecca the team would need to continue playing the game to completion, but the risk in doing so would be too great so reluctantly Rebecca was declared lost.
