Bazza was upset the crew had been lying low while they waited for John to be released and others to recover from wounds they had recieved. He said Durell the snake from down at the docks has a score he wanted the crew to assist with. Durell was a Tycherosi and had small goat horns growing out of her head. She wanted the crew to liberate something called the leviathans eye from a Dr Ixit Crechelle. The Crechelle mansion was near Bellweather crematorium in Charterfall. Jude read that Ixit stole spirits before the ghostwarders could destroy them. His mansion was designed by the architect Adric.

The crew travelled to Tangletown to speak to Adric. He built the mansion 50 years ago. The crew asked about secret entrances and he said Lord Crechelle was paranoid and wanted murder holes. Adric gave the crew some plans to the mansion. Weaver and Finbar surveyed the mansion. There were several possible ways in but they felt an otherworldly prescience there. They attuned to the ghost field and saw several ghosts brandishing swords rush towards them. When they returned to the lair, John sensed Finbar was possessed. John compelled the ghost to help with the heist. The ghost was called Stephen and thought it would be fun to get one over on Ixit.

The crew broke into the mansion. When they descended into the cellar they found Ixit and some animated armour. They subdued Ixit using force and some of Narcissus's trance powder, though John was badly injured in the scuffle. They found the eye and left quickly.

The crew then made a move and persuaded the administrator of the Civic hall infirmary to work for the crew.
