Bob was recruited into the Crew to stand in for Weaver while he served his time.
Baron Kelyr Strathmill asked the crew to visit him. He said he had been set up. A rival had planted false evidence that he planned to steal research documents from the sparkwrights in Barrowclef. He wanted the crew to steal the evidence and plant new evidence implementing his rival.
The documents were being stored in the vault of Saltfords, a privately owned bank in the docks. They had a reputation for being secure and hanging anyone who broke in. Narsissus and Finbar scouted the bank as prospective investors. The crew then crept in through a skylight when the bank was shut. Narsissus quickly unlocked the vault and the documents were switched, but an alarm was triggered in the process.
Jude had arranged for protests outside the bank by stirring up the dockworkers as a distraction. Bob was injured while fighting his way out. Jude and Narsissus slipped out through the crowd of dockworkers. Finbar jumped from a window into the river and was hit by an arrow fired by the guards while swimming away.
Mardin Gull, proprietor of the leaky bucket was persuaded to allow the crew use of his tavern for gang activities. He used to run crows before being deposed and was not unhappy at their fate.
