After we had rested, we travelled to Kaedwen as Bulgar wanted to visit his old country. The journey was mostly uneventful until we had arrived and were travelling through Kaedwen when suddenly it began to go dark. When we looked up a huge darkness had started to creep across the surface of the sun. As we watched a star appeared to flare up and began to roar towards the earth. It seemed to be heading for Daevon, a small town near Ard Carraigh. We watched and saw a small flare as it hit the ground.

We rushed towards Daevon to investigate. When we arrived we found a large crater which had cut through the perimeter wall. Inside the crater was a large rock which had cracked open to reveal a hollow void inside. We heard sounds of screaming from the village. In the village we found two creatures with horns which Bulgar identified as Bullvor ( a type of necrophage) and two Bruxa (a type of vampire) attacking the towns people.

Bulgar charged them, swinging his sword. The Bruxa were incredibly fast and one attacked him as the other continued killing the towns people. Then one of the bullvors attacked him as well as the other smashed into a building. I fired at the Bullvor fighting Bulgar as another star flared in the sky.

The Bullvor charged me and hit me with a flurry of blows, but I stepped back and put an arrow through its chest, killing it. Bulgar continued to fight the Bruxa, striking it a powerful blow in the stomach and cutting it in half as the star grew to a flaming sphere heading for the well at the centre of the town. I took cover in the crater at the edge of town and Bulgar joined me.

The flaming sphere struck the centre of the town, destroying a large area and killing both the Bullvor and Bruxa that were still there, along with many towns people, and leaving another crater with a large rock in the centre. More stars flared in the sky and headed in different directions, one looked to be heading towards the capital, Ard Carriagh.

The rock that had landed in the centre of town split open and a frightener emerged then turned towards me. I fired an explosive arrow at it as I knew it to be sensitive to noise, then several bolts from my moon bow. The shots seemed to affect it only slightly, but Bulgar then attacked it and hit it in the head twice, crushing its skull and killing it.

All this was starting to sound like line from the prophesy about the curse of the black sun where the god Lillete would destroy the world.

We quickly headed towards Ard Carriagh to see what had happened there. On the way Bulgar heard a baby crying from reeds by a riverbank. He investigated and found a new born baby girl. There was no sign of the mother but I found a trail of blood leading to the river bank where I found a woman covered in blood who had drowned at the edge of the river. The river had turned blood red. There were two barges on the river, and as I watched a red mist formed into a transparent humanoid form and started to attack one of the barges. I fired several shots and destroyed it, but two more forms formed on the bank and attacked Bulgar. I quickly killed one as Bulgar killed the other.

A line from the prophesy had said "Rivers would turn to blood"

I picked up the baby and comforted it to quieten it. We then continued towards Ard Carraigh where there had been previous rumours that King Hensal had had an illegitimate child by his sister. There were fires burning in Ard Carriagh. Every now and then another star flared and started to fall towards the ground. A line of refugees were leaving the city. They said the king had been taken by creatures into the castle. We went into the city to look for his advisor, Sabrina. The main gate had been smashed open by something very powerful.

We heard sounds of fighting then a building shattered and a body flew past us. When the smoke cleared there was a huge cyclops carrying a tree trunk. Bulgar immediately attacked and climbed on its back it as I gave covering fire with my bow. It charged at me and knocked me off my feet then grabbed Bulgar and threw him over a building and out of sight.

I continued to fire at it as I retreated into the cover of a building. The cyclops smashed through the wall after me. Bulgar appeared again and threw his sword at it before it hit me again and knocked me unconscious. When I regained conscious I found Bulgar had killed it. I made up a Swallow potion to restore some health before we continued to the castle.

There were bodies everywhere but we found a guard who was still barely alive. I patched him up and he said we had to help the king. Sabrina had turned on them, changing form into a hideous snake like monster, (Bulgar thought it sounded like a Lamia which had the torso and arms of woman and body of a snake), and took the king. We sent him to rally the guard then climbed the castle tower after them. We could hear cries from above.

We climbed the stairs to the top of the tower where we found a trap door onto the roof. The cries were coming from above us. Bulgar climbed through a window with the aim of climbing up the outside but slipped and fell. I looked out the window in time to see him splash into the moat.

As he splashed about I saw some creatures swimming towards him, a sea serpent and several creatures with tentacles that Bulgar later told me were Ne-reeds (water nymphs). They caught up with him before he reached the bank and attacked, trying to pull him under the water be managed to fend them off and climb out of the moat.

Hearing more screams from above, we did not wait for Bulgar to climb back up the tower before bursting through the trap door. The king was bound and gagged and kneeling on the floor. The Lamia was with a naked woman with dark skin and fangs (another Bruxa), which immediately attacked Scathe, sinking her fangs into his leg. Scathe hit it with a bolt of fire, burning into its stomach and setting it on fire, before summoning a group of illusions of himself for protection.

The Bruxa put itself out but Scathe hit it with another bolt of fire. He then tried healing the king but the spell backfired, causing the surrounding stone to explode. Scathe was knocked unconscious by the blast and I was stunned. The Lamia finished casting a ritual and another three stars started falling from the sky. Bulgar succeeded in decapitating the Bruxa and then attacked the Lamia. I treated Scathe and brought him back to consciousness then also fired on the Lamia.

The Lamia attacked Bulgar with a scimitar then struck him in the chest with its tail, so Bulgar cut its tail off, killing it. Two of the stars were falling towards the edge of the city, but the third seemed to be heading straight towards the tower. As it fell towards us Scathe created a portal and we fled with the king seconds before it hit.

The portal took us to the dwarven village. There was a crater nearby and the bodies of two Bullvors and many dwarves scattered round the village. I treated the king and he regained consciousness. He recognised Bulgar and wanted to know where he was.

He said Sabrina was a member of the Aretuza mage school and had claimed she had been born under the black sun. She had asked for a leave of absence to search for Estabald the mad, who was rumoured to be near Shaerrawedd. Supposedly he had a cure, but the king had refused permission for her to go. The king said we were now in his employ with a commission to lift the curse and restore his kingdom. Something we were going to have to do anyway for our own safety but it he is willing to provide some funds… He said Sabrina would have had her research in her room and he suggested we start there.

Scathe created a portal to the castle gates in Ard Carraigh. The rear of the castle was nothing but a crater. All the fighting appeared to have moved off and there was silence. Luckily Sabrinas room was in the half of the castle that was still standing. We found some journals detailing her research into the curse of the black sun. She was terrified that the curse would take her over. There was a map of a deserted elven palace in the ruins of a city in Shaerrawedd and it was there that she wanted to search for a cure. A cult in Zerrikania who followed Lillete was described. There was also a list of other people who had been born under the black sun and were known to live.

The list consisted of:

The king stayed to find and rally his troops while Scathe created a portal to Shaerrawedd so we could find the mad mage. Whe we passed through the portal we saw In the distance another crater. I found a crumbling wall in the undergrowth nearby which was probably part of the ruins but Bulgar insisted the city was a short distance away and he knew where the entrance was. Bulgar then lead us to a cave entrance. There were bear tracks leading in and out of the cave. Bulgar lead us into the cave where we found six bears sleeping. There was a door in the wall at the far side of the cave.

Bulgar said he would light fire in an attempt to scare the bears out but the bears woke when he dislodged some stones while lighting it. Three fled but the other three moved to attack Bulgar. I killed one with a shot to the head but that just caused one of the other two to turn and attack me. Scathe set them both on fire and they fled the cave.

Bulgar pulled the door with such force that it came off its hinges. Beyond was a steep flight of stairs leading down. Bulgars medallion vibrated and a glowing blue figure holding a lantern was briefly seen passing the bottom of the stairs. We descended carefully and began to explore. We saw the figure again ahead of us. Bulgar identified it as a wraith.

Bulgar addressed the wraith and said the curse of the black sun was upon us then demanded answers. The wraith beckoned then headed back out of the bear cave and through the woods. It lead us back to where we had emerged from the portal and lead us to the wall I had found. It followed the wall to a hill then disappeared into the hill. After a few moments it reappeared, gestured then re-entered the hill. Bulgar approached then walked straight into the hill side. I followed with Scathe. We found ourselves inside an elven structure.

The inside was in an advanced state of decay but there was an ancient looking figure sitting on a throne. The wraith approached the throne and held the lantern above its head. Bulgar called 'Estabald' and the figure looked up. It was an old bald man. He seemed to be half blind and deaf. He said he was the king and seemed to think Bulgar was someone called Lara.

He asked for his medicine and Bulgar found a satchel with a formula. I brewed the recipe and we gave it to him. Having taken it he did become more lucid. He knew about the curse and said Lillete's worshippers would need to sacrifice enough men to bring her forth. Her worshippers were in Zerrikania and Haakland. He said we would need a child who was born under this black sun. We would need to take the child to the cage of ages to bring it to maturity (18 years), and the child could then be used to make Lillete vulnerable to mortal weapons. This would require killing her and coating our weapons with her blood. He said the cave was guarded by the spirit of the forest, a Leshan which can command woodland animals, can assume an incorporeal smoky form and can command roots to entangle opponents. It is considered as powerful as a relic.

Our other options were to go to the cave and take on the role of the sacrifice ourselves (me apparently as it needs to be a woman), or speak to a powerful entity (presumably Asmadan) to get such power. While we were discussing this, Letho appeared. He said he had been guided here but was unclear how. He said we had to deal with the curse and wanted to take on Lillete. Knowing he is a bit unreliable we agreed to send for him when we went to take on Lillete. He is useful in a fight but not with any task that requires personal skills.

Bulgar used Asmadan's ring to try to contact him but failed. He then passed the ring to Scathe who summoned the image of Regan / Asmadan. Asmadan had an interest in ensuring Lillette did not destroy the world and was willing to send a force of soldiers with us to stop Lillette's worshipers from summoning her in return for another year and a day in this world.

As ae talked, another star fell towards us and Scathe quickly created a portal back to my fathers home. We arrived to a scene of devastation and it was obvious Ebbing had not been spared the falling stars. I started tending people when we saw something fly across the moon heading towards us. Bulgar believed it to be a manticore. We took cover and I fired arrows at it as it approached. When it got close, Scathe summoned burning serpents which entangled the manticore, causing it to crash to the ground. Bulgar then struck it in the head, decapitating it.

My fathers house had been destroyed but he had survived and was in the basement with my uncle and sister. We gave him the child to look after. He said they would call her Dilys junior. Scathe created a portal to the Korath desert to try to contact Grom to ask for its help. Grom agreed to help and they returned together. Grom said he had seen strange women with snake bodies in the deep desert. Grom then agreed to go and scout the deep desert to find where they had gone.

When Grom returned he said he had found where they were. There was an entrance to something underground but he could not get close as there were many snake women guarding. He also saw a pale man and a flying creature. We went through another portal to investigate further. We found there were about fifty Lamia, the vampire Detlaf Vanderetlin who appeared to be in thrall to a Lamia with Seranna's face, and a red dragon.

We formed a plan for Grom to create a sand storm as cover, then Scathe would create a portal to the entrance for us to go through, and Asmadan would create a portal to bring his force through at the same time. The aim was for us to get into the temple without everything outside realising.

We organised everything then Scathe opened a portal into the expected sandstorm that Grom created. Bulgar rushed through and charged Seranna, striking her in the chest. She fought back, slashing and biting repeatedly at Bulgar, ripping into his stomach. Asmadan stepped forward and healed the huge wound she had inflicted on Bulgar, but caused other wounds. Clearly his power was not so much to heal as to spread the damage to make it less serious. Letho then charged and killed Seranna. When she died, Detlaf screamed and dropped to the floor.

The dragon breathed fire on Grom then landed. The fire reduced Grom's ability to maintain the sand storm and we could see some of the Lamia and the dragon. I fired several arrows at the dragon, hitting it in the head, before moving towards the entrance which Seranna had been standing next to. Scathe cast a bolt of lightning, hitting and killing four of the Lamia's as well as hitting the dragon, then followed me. Inside the temple was four Lamia chanting and a pile of bodies. Letho charged one and started fighting it, and Asmadan charged another, killing it. Bulgar followed, attacking the one Letho was fighting, but another of the Lamia moved to attack him.

Scathe hit the Lamia attacking Bulgar with a ball of fire, and I fired on the Lamia that had continued chanting. Asmadan then charged the Lamia I had attacked and ripped its head off as the dragon smashed its way into the temple behind us. Letho was bitten in the chest by the Lamia he was fighting and collapsed to the ground.

Scathe moved up to Bulgar to cast a healing spell on him as the was looking badly wounded and ready to drop as well. I moved into the room to take cover from the dragon and killed one of the two remaining Lamia before the dragon breathed fire at us. The fire badly burned me. It also killed the remaining Lamir which caused the ritual they were casting to collapse. Asmadan then created a portal and left. Bulgar dragged Letho through the portal and I followed, deciding anything was better than facing the dragon at that point. Scathe teleported himself away somewhere.

I found myself in the chaos realm with Bulgar and Letho. Asmadan said he had grown tired of our realm and we could have it. He then jumped into a pool of lava. We were standing on a rock floating on the lava and it started sinking. Bulgar clambered up to a cave mouth and Letho helped me up as well before Bulgar pulled Letho up. Letho passed out from the strain and heat, so Bulgar pulled him into the cave. The cave was the entrance to a tunnel which lead to a cave where Asmadan was sitting in a chair. He seemed surprised we had survived and agreed to creating a portal back to our realm in exchange for being able to call on Bulgar in the future.

After all my adventures I decided it was time return home and help rebuild the family estate. Dilys junior grew up never knowing what her fate might have been. Bulgar and Letho returned to Kaer Morhen where they are training a new generation of witchers. Scathe visits occasionally when he is taking a break from his search for the legendary valley of the elves. He had teleported away from the temple to save Grom and his fire elemental. Scathe always did have a caring nature.
