I gave the operatives a datapad with details of their next mission.

The operatives took a shuttle which was arranged for them to the shrine world St Jsidore's rest. The operatives landed on the planet and took a boat to the island where the monastery was located. The ship's mistress said pilgrims she had ferried there had never returned, and the crew saw strange lights from a celestial event in the sky recently. The monastery was on top of a cliff above the dock with a long path leading up to it from the dock. There was lots of dead fish in the water. The operatives determined they had likely been caught in an explosion as some had shrapnel wounds. Erika saw a figure on a balcony of the monastery observing the operatives ascending the path. They found the path was blocked by a rockfall part way up. When they cleared the rocks they found the smeared remains of two monks underneath.

The path led into a tunnel where Gaius spotted a trip wire connected to explosive devices of non imperium issue. Further into the tunnel the operatives found some illuminated prayer scrolls and a broken chrono that had been dropped. It had stopped about the same time as the celestial event the ship mistress saw. The operatives continued up and found the gates to the monastery open. A monk was waiting just inside holding a battered scroll. He started writing on it "Follow me silently", and looked nervous.

Inside the operatives saw a plinth labelled St Talya Hephesteun's thighbone in the atrium. There was shattered glass, but no bone. The monk wrote "Act normally, follow me". The operatives heard sounds of movement from the ceiling. Looking up they saw an avian had been disturbed by a large squat shape squatting on a beam. There were two orks above and the operatives opened fire and killed them.

The monk led the operatives to a room where other monks were hiding. One spoke, saying he was brother Thaddeus, and that there were orks everywhere who were led by a captain Slystabba. There was another called doc and they were leading at least a dozen other orks. An ork ship had crashed off the island and the survivors had made their way to the monastery. Thaddeus then made an excuse and left. Gaius and Erika followed him. He went to a food storage room where he inspected some of the supplies.

The refectory was the HQ of the orks but the operatives had to go through dormitory with two orks. Thaddeus disappeared again as the operatives engaged the orks. Mordicai shot and killed one of the orks, but the other ork attacked and wounded Mordicai before it was killed. Six of the small orks called grots then bburst through a door. Iota killed two before Thaddius returned and led the operatives into secret tunnels which took them to a secret entrance into the refectory. Thaddeus then disappeared again. Mordicai threw a frag grenade into the room, killing two orks. Iota then blew Slystabba's hand off, causing the ork to drop its gun before Gius shot and killed it.

The two remaining orks fired, hitting Mordicai. Mordicai then killed one, but the other charged and attacked him before Iota dispatched it. The relic was found on Slystabba's body. Gaius asked who the traitor was and heard a whisper from the relic saying they were close. Iota asked Thaddeus why he could talk and was told he had let out a cry when attacked by an ork, breaking his vow of silence so now he could talk. When threatened he admitted he was not a monk. He then pulled out a copy of the emperors tarot, said the monks made them and he had clients that paid well for them. Mordicai executed him as a traitor to the imperium, then the operatives mopped up and returned for a debriefing.

I learned that the individual calling themselves the codebreaker who had provided the heretical code which resulted in the loss of the Pakvarius Manufactorum had been located by adept Genevieve Parker, but she was being treated at the St D'Platorus sanatorium on Priests park. I tasked the operatives to make contact with Parker to find out where codebreaker is, then return to me to report. The operatives went to the sanatorium. As they approached a scream was heard, then eight rotting humanoid figures in hospital gowns carrying improvised weapons appeared in the entrance with an accompanying stench. They were chasing someone. The operatives killed seven of them but the eighth caught and killed the individual they were chasing.

A sergeant Grosvenor and two security officers came running out. They did not know anything about what had just occurred, but were able to advise the operatives that Parker was in the exotic diseases ward and they needed to speak to Chirurgeon William Koenig. Modicai read the chart of one of the patients which stated they were suffering from the abacus disease. All the patients in the ward were chanting numbers between 0 and 2047. Iota realised they were speaking in Lingua technis and analysed that they were reciting part of a standard epsilon passcode. Upon Iota then determined more of the passcode from the other patients chants and that it would deactivate the security systems in a nearby food processing complex.

Mordicai spoke to a Med tech who reported having a delivery of bodies but then finding the morgue empty, and that Koenig appeared unconcerned when reported to him. The tech said the Abacus disease had started about two months ago and patient zero was an astropath called Darren Feld who had been treated in room 7. There had been 20 deaths so far and the bodies had been removed quickly without autopsies. The operatives also learned that Parker was admitted for an injury and was infected while in the sanatorium. Erika examined a patient and discovered something attaching to the patients blood cells pointing to the infection being of chaos origin.

Suddenly the patients all expired simultaneously then the bodies started twitching and rose up. They were quickly killed by the operatives and a data pad was found on Parker which had the location of a space hulk in Yix sector called The Ambitions Reward. The bodies were burned by Erika then the operatives made their way to the food processing complex where they found the gates open and the servitors deactivated. Shambling infected, nurgling's and plague bearers were seen inside. Chirugeon William Koenig was inside near the plaguebearers and appeared unconcerned by them. The operatives fought and defeated them, but Iota lost his augmetic eye in the fight. However he was able to get it replaced without begging for charity.

With the Codebreaker being on The Ambitions Reward space hulk, I sent the operatives there on a locate and terminate mission. I have received disturbing rumours of individuals stealing items from space hulks for profit and warned the operatives against doing so. I also asked Modicai to obtain a power blade for me, the sword of Agatha Yun which is called Sinister.

I arranged for The Guardian of the Magnificant Solar Matcharus to take the operatives to the hulk. However the trip did not go smoothly for the operatives. While in the void, outside the ship turned red, and screams were heard in the bowels of the ship. A rift was forming in the immaterium. The operatives went down to a cargo hold where they found armsmen had been ripped to shreds and a swirling vortex in the centre of the cargo hold which looked like blood. There were two pink horrors which the operatives engaged. Erica was seriously wounded in the fight. When the pink horrors were destroyed, they split into blue horrors, and a Bloodletter started to form in the rift. Erika charged into the rift shouting 'emperor protect me'. In a flash of light the rift and demons were gone, as was Erika, sucked into the warp.

The captain arranged for a replacement for Erika, which saved me the inconvenience, and the operatives gained a new member called Ignacious, a registered psyker.

The captain also offered three armsmen and a colonel Cras Bilnius to accompany and assist the operatives on the hulk. The operatives were also given a map showing a path to the centre of the space hulk. They were put aboard and quickly found five smugglers who were acting suspiciously and were probably trying to loot the hulk. They were not immediately hostile, but after some conversation where the operatives refused to cooperate the smugglers became hostile and the operatives killed two of them. Before the conflict was resolved. two armsmen and a smuggler were suddenly dragged into vents and a hydrid creature crawled from a pipe. Ignacious hit it with a psychic attack, causing its head to explode, and Iota shot another hybrid that was dragging one of the armsmen away, but the other armsman could not be saved and was dragged away. The last two smugglers were killed and Ignacious killed another hybrid.

Two genestealers then crawled into view and attacked, and Gaius, Mordicai and Iota were wounded before they were eliminated. Gaius found the power blade Sinister in the cache the smugglers had which was later delivered to me. The operatives then continued into the hulk with Gaius using his auspex to scan ahead. The operatives found an obsidian container fused to the floor which had a seam which also appeared to be fused. It had runes which would probably would have detailed how to open it but the operatives did not understand the runes and took the more btute force approach of using a las pistol to cut into the container. A loud screeching was heard which then quietened, and some of the operatives heard a voice crying for help.

The obsidian container then popped open and a 1ft tall statue of a distorted humanoid was found inside. It was multi coloured and disturbing to look at so the operatives left it and closed the container. Although it would have been interesting to study I am glad the operatives heeded my warning about stealing and did not get sidetracked from the missions main objective. The operatives descended to the floor below and came to a room with burning promethium fires. As they ran across Ignacious was splashed by burning promethium, but he managed to avoid the worst of the effects, but Colonel Cras and one of the armsmen were caught in the fires and burned to death.

The operatives found the next section had no gravity, but then heard a buzzing noise which Ignacious determined was psychic in nature, and gravity came back. The section had three more obsidian containers which opened, and six Psychneuein emerged. Iota immediately blew one to pieces and Gaius laid down supressing fire while the other operatives eliminated the rest.

Ignacious suddenly had a feeling that the hulk had gone to warp, then the captain broke in with a radio warning saying the same. Ignacious also sensed it was heading towards the planet Vol, which would be a calamitous outcome. The operatives continued to the primary Gela Field room. In the centre was the codebreaker hovering in the air and attached to a column by chains. He was also surrounded by a conversion field. Iota recognised the codebreaker as a demon host.

The codebreaker gestured and four hybrids started crawling down from the ceiling. Gaius fired at the codebreaker and his shot was absorbed by the conversion field, radiating a flash of light which blinded Iota. Iota reset his bionic eye to regain some sight. The codebreaker tried to manifest a power but Ignacious succeeded in blocking it. Two of the hybrids were killed but Ignacious spotted two genestealers climbing down. Iota shot one as they attacked. Both Gaius and Mordicai were injured by them before they were killed.

Ignacious used a psychic power to inflict haemorrhaging on the codebreaker. That appeared to upset him as he drifted down to attack Ignacious directly. Iota detected a power build up in the Gela Field which had been set to overload. Ignacious continued to fight the codebreaker as the rest of the operatives fired a last round of shots at the codebreaker and fled back out of the hulk. Ignacious finally succeeded in destroying the codebreaker using his psychic powers then followed. Mordicai turned back to help Ignacious when he stumbled. A rift into the warp opened where the codebreaker fell but the operatives succeeded in escaping its effects and fled to the Guardian of the Magnificant Solar Matcharus which retreated before the hulk exploded.
