I decided to use the operatives next on a mission to a cemetery world. The easiest way to get them to the planet was as corpses with a shipment, which would require administration of a drug that would put them in a corpse like state. As a side effect of the drug was memory loss, I did not want to risk more valuable operatives on this mission.

The operatives woke in total darkness with no memory and covered in corpses. The cargo bay door opened, dumping the operatives and corpses in a heap on the ground in the rain, then the ship took off. A sign of the Priory of the Sacred Form told them where they were, and Mordici found a data slate and stalker flare I had had stitched into his robe.

Despite being warned, the operatives had not left the landing pad when servitors arrived to deal with the corpses. They were challenged by the servitors and destroyed two before making their escape and heading to the Librarium Mortum. I am not best pleased that their tardiness resulted in the need to destroy two valuable servitors. Gaius Asked about Diomedes and was pointed to look in Downtown, Memento Square or the docks, and it was mentioned that miscreants could be found in the Jolly Undertaker. Iota inquired about the mausoleum, but got a servitor unavailable response. The archivist said the servitor skull had gone missing, and that the records are unrecoverable until the servitor was recovered. It was called Colidus, a co-joined skull. Mordicai used charms on her and learned the servitor had been taken for repair by Kalyia who was based at Memento Square.

The operatives went to Memento Square where they noticed a box with an attached invoice bearing the name Kaliya behind stall where they bought some ammunition. Mordicai asked and the stall holder said she was Kalyia. She denied any knowledge about the missing servitor, so the operatives then went to the jolly undertaker. Inside was several mutants including one with their hands reversed, and one with a pseudo pod with an eye protruding from beneath their robe. The operatives identified Diomedes in a corner. He said he was the ruler of downtown. He admitted to having the servitor and the operatives negotiated 100 solars to obtain it. Diomedes then said it was broken and they would have to fix it.

The operatives were taken to his hovel where they received the servitor. They asked about the Gelfradus mausoleum. Diomedes stated they were rogue traders and knew where the mausoleum was but warned it was a dangerous trip. He wanted 500 solars to act as a guide. The operatives returned to the library and repaired the servitor enough to make it operational. The servitor then retrieved the location and partial plans of the tomb. It stated Augustus Gelfradus was buried in the tomb with several security measures, but details were redacted. Augustus was last of the line, and was accused of using heretical xenos tech by the Adeptus Mechanicus.

The operatives returned to Diomedes and negotiated 400 solars for him to act as a guide. He had a vehicle in which he took them. On the way to the mausoleum a corpse tender gang ambushed the operatives and demanded a toll for being in their territory. The operatives declined to pay and a fight ensued. Erika was shot before Gaius shot and killed their leader. Iota and Gaius shot and killed another, Erika killed one and Mordicai killed one. Gaius then stunned one and the last two ran. The ganger who had been stunned begged for his life but Erika burned him as a heretic. It is good to see the operatives using a little initiative occasionally.

The operatives examined their hideout. Mordicai triggered a booby trap when he opened the door and was hit by a shotgun blast, and Erika had to provide medical assistance. Little of value was found and I hope the operatives learned a lesson not to get distracted from their mission.

The operatives continued and found a corpse in the middle of the road wearing mesh armour and with a data slate and lascarbine. The data pad showed user access denied, but the operatives used the fingerprint from the body to gain access. The data pad showed "Sister I have sent a backup team in case you fail, I need you to find the Revalator from the tomb of Gelfradus." The operatives recognised that they had found the body of one of the other operatives I had sent to recover the Revalator, and Erika cremated her.

The operatives finally arrived at the mausoleum where Gaius broke open the lock on the gate. There was a gargoyle over the doorway into the tower at the entrance to the crypt. A lasgun was built into the gargoyle which fired and nearly hit Erika. Gaius shot and damaged it, but it fired again at Erika, hitting her in the arm. Gaius shot it again and destroyed it. The tower had stairs up and down, but the stairs up had partially collapsed, and the stairs down looked treacherous. The operatives used rope to make the descent safely. They found a tunnel at the bottom which had water a metre deep and a door at the end. They waded through and found a chamber beyond the door 30 metres in diameter with a sarcophagus in the centre, and two thrones and an altar with a candelabra to one side.

There was carvings of people preying on the walls and ceiling, and a hole in the floor, through which another chamber could be seen below. The sarcophagus lid was slid off. Inside was a skeleton in robes but no sign of the Revalator. Gaius suggested sitting on the thrones. When the operatives did the thrones descended to the chamber below. In the chamber was an awful smell and a bizarre fusion of servitors, some form of corrupted guardian amalgamation. It attacked, and all the operatives were wounded. Erika suffered a broken arm and dislocated knee before Iota killed it.

The chamber lead to another smaller chamber which was carved with blasphemous scenes of humans trading with xenos. Another sarcophagus was in the centre. Erika removed the lid and found a skeleton holding the Revelator. The operatives exited the tower and fired the flare, and were picked up in a transport. I am pleased the Revalator was recovered but will need to keep a close eye on the operatives to ensure they do not start experiencing effects from the corruption they have been experiencing.
